Hello, this is Florence Henderson. Thank you for your interest in The FloH Club, where technology is simple! I am so excited to have this opportunity to speak with you through my very own blog. I had been hearing about blogs for a while but didn't know exactly what they were. Well, a blog is a journal that is published on the Internet. Just like a traditional journal, a blog is updated frequently. At first, I thought "blog" was such a funny word. But now I understand it is an abbreviation of "Web log," or a running record presented on the World Wide Web. That made sense! I had to laugh, because we used the same idea to come up with the name for The FloH Club: "FloH" is a shortened version of "Florence Henderson."

My goal for this blog is to share my own experiences with computers and my growing knowledge of technology. I am eager to pass along information I learn that might also be helpful to you. After you read my words, please feel free to add your own comments. And check back often for new entries! Over time, we will develop a collection of useful facts about computer technology that can be searched for reference. Topics might include news about The FloH Club, common technology terms, computer hardware and software, peripheral devices, the Internet, communication, entertainment, accessibility, and troubleshooting. Please don't worry if you don't recognize all of these words right now. We'll get to that! My philosophy is, "Let's learn together!"

Talk to you again soon.

I just heard about your site on twitter from @AgeWiseLiving RT@FenwayMedical: This is a wonderful concept and I wish you, and just as importantly, the people who take advantage of your services, good luck.

Sixty-seven, single, and hooked!(on twitter.) I went to an 'Integrating Media' conference in Little Rock, AR and it really helped me over-the-hump so to speak. I was quite obviously the oldest in attendance and intimidated by all the tech-speak & abbreviations. In his presentation, one man referred to himself as old - he was born in 1962! I could easily be his mother.

Go for it guys and gals!
CAUTION: It's addicting. You can carry on a conversation with people from all over the world!!

I'll do what I can to spread the word. You can see me at www.twitter.com/ARhomehelper

Just saw your Today Show segment and I am so happy to see you taking on this important role. Seniors (like me) can derive so much benefit from access to the internet, but it is intimidating to many our age. Even though I made my living with computers, this was a totally different platform and a lot more fun. Having access to experts who can ease us over the technical road bumps on the information highway will make it possible for many more seniors to enjoy this virtual playground. Thank you!

PS: I would love to put a link to your site on my blog if I could have a widget.

I'm 82 and a pc enthusiast. I have self taught and am quite literate as to the web. However, there is so very much to learn, I try to take advantage of any help I can get.My wife came in the pc room and told me about seeing you on tv.So-o-o here I am. I urge all seniors to take advantage of your services if they can afford it. I only access free things because my budget is tight. But to all seniors I'll say, GO FOR IT!
It's not hard and unbelieveably interesting and rewarding. John

A very good concept, was very excited to hear all about in on the TODAY show this morning. But the fee to join anually, unfortunalety is much to high for seniors. Really it is, and in a down economy too.

So you offer tech support? I already got tech support from the place where I bought my computer.

Just wanted to drop by and see about getting a subscription for my parents. Unfortunately it's a little more expensive than I can afford at this time. I wish you the best of luck though and I think this is a great concept and so needed!

I think you have a great idea but it is way too expensive for older Americans or disabled Americans. So, I cannot use your services. I would like to find a blog for older people where we can just talk!

I am a personal computer tutor here in Florida, and my customer base is seniors. I LOVE to watch them get excited about computers and the ability to communicate. Old doesn't mean dumb and our senior population shouldn't be dismissed when they have trouble learning technology.

I go to their homes, teach them what they want to know about their computers ON THEIR OWN COMPUTER, as well as troubleshoot and repair, teach them how to use their cell phones, DVD players, GPS - anything that will make their lives safer. Technology can be confusing and I try to make it simpler and useful and meaningful to their life-style.

Saw you on tv "sharing" about your business adventure. Thought it is a great idea, but like many of the others comemnts. A bit pricey, especially with many baby boomers on budgets, and more so with the economy as is, and not knowing where it will lead. Even tv is no longer free, so we make priorities, I believe a cell phone is one of them before having a luxury service like your club.It sounds like you want to aid us, but a little fleeing......

My mother doesn't need help accessing skype or MP3 music. She just wants to be able to reliably access her e-mail, talk to her daughter by video which is built into her computer and use the web to order her medicines. She forgets how to do it sometimes, or gets flustered if something unusual happens - like pop ups, or if she clicks on the wrong spot and loses where she was.

It is not at all clear whether this service would be of help to her. Does it allow people to call to get help doing basic tasks - repeatedly as my mother would need? Or, does it "teach " once then leave people on their own? She doesn't need tech support so much as patient people to help her walk through what she needs to do each time she forgets and gets muddled.

Pat Curry: Please feel free to link to www.flohclub.com. Thank you for your interest.

sunny H: FloH Club members can call as often as they need help, even with the same issue or task. The FloH Club's technicians are very patient. Thank you for your question.

what's a website? This sounds like a great idea and the cost sounds reasonable to me--time is money and I don't want to spend a lot of either. I just have questions such as if I should buy Microsoft Office; how to change the size of my screen; transfer files from one place to another, etc. etc. Will I have to pay for each bit of advice or is there a discussion place???

Hi Florence,

I love your Transformaire makeup and would love to find out where I could still buy it. It is not on HSN anymore. Please let me know where I can purchase your great makeup.

Thanks,
Jannie Gomoll

I thought you were trying to help seniors. With all the money you made from The Brady Bunch, the membersip to your club should be AT YOUR EXPENSE.
Most of us seniors are having a tough enough time trying to make it month to month, and you come along trying to squeeze more out of us. You have a lot o nerve.

M. Schwartz
